 A Primer to GGE to MMBTU,CCF to MMBTU,MMBTU to kWh,Ton to MMBTU and BTU to MMBTU

Gasoline Gallon Equivalent (GGE) and Million British Thermal Units, again abbreviated as MMBTU, are two popular units of energy measurement. GGE is typically used in the transportation industry to compare alternative fuels with gasoline; by contrast, the MMBTU measures energy on a much larger scale-case typically used in heating, power generation, and fuel analysis.

GGE means what?

Gasoline Gallon Equivalent (GGE) is a unit of measurement describing a gallon of gasoline in energy capacity. Its design is to help in comparing other fuels, like natural gas, propane, or hydrogen, to gasoline in energy value. That is, it helps you see how much energy you may expect from these fuels compared to regular gasoline so that you can make informed choices about your energy supply.

  • 1 GGE = 114,000 BTUs

What is MMBTU?

This stands for million British thermal units, which serve as one of the key measurement units for large-scale energy.

  • 1 MMBTU = 1,000,000 BTUs

GGE to MMBTU Conversion Formula

Converting between these units is simple:

                   MMBTU=GGE×0.114

For example, if you have 50 GGE, the energy in MMBTU is:

                    50×0.114=5.7MMBTU

To convert back:

GGE=  MMBTU/0.114

 If you have 10 MMBTU, the equivalent GGE is:

    10÷0.114=87.72GGE
